Problem with braces and wisdom teeth?

I have had braces for about 2 months and I'm concerned that when my wisdom teeth come in my teeth will no longer be straight and the braces that were expensive were pointless. Is it possible to get wisdom teeth removed before they erupt? Should I be worried and what should I do?

Problem with braces and wisdom teeth?
yes, you can get your wisdom teeth out before they erupt. It's called a completely-bony extraction, i personally had that done. A general dentist cannot do this procedure, you have to go to a periodontist or an oral surgeon. They're gonna cut through the gum and the bone to be able to get to the tooth, or it just depends on how far in your teeth still are. Most likely you will be sedated for this, it's not an easy thing to do and you might get scared with all the pulling if you are awake for it. It's best to get all four of them out at the same time, just get it over with so you don't have to come back. Since you need a specialist for this, it runs a little expensive. i paid about 1000 for all four of mine, but i worked for the dentist at the time, so don't expect this to be cheap... you can end up having to pay about 2000-2500. Unless you have insurance, then it's a different story. As far as it affecting your braces, it just depends of whether you have room for them or not, and the way that they are coming in. Some times they are flipped over on the side, you can ask your orthodontist. Regardless, it is important to get them out, at least as soon as they come in. They are really difficult to keep clean and they usually cause cavities on the teeth next to them. Sometimes they hurt too. Hope this helps
Reply:Around 17 most orthodontist will recommend a visit to the oral surgeon, if not sooner, to have your wisdom teeth removed to prevent your teeth from being moved after all that hard work. Seek a consult with an oral surgeon to have your wisdom teeth evaluated.
Reply:Yes, your wisdom teeth will mess up the expensive work you have had done. They can be removed before they erupt. Usually they can be removed anytime after age 16. You should go to an oral surgeon though as they are best at dealing with this. I would also mention it to your orthodontist and they can probably give you a referral.
Reply:I have all of my wisdom teeth and braces, and they haven't done anything. Friends of mine say that they had gotten their wisdom teeth pulled before they got braces, but my orthodontist told me that I was getting mine out after braces, when I get my retainer.
