Do braces usually whiten your teeth?

Just curious because i always see people with braces having white teeth.

Braces straighten the teeth, they do nothing to whiten teeth. Perhaps you notice people with braces having whiter teeth because they take care of their teeth.........having spent $5,000+ on braces.
Reply:No, but if you're really lucky they may leave cement on your teeth for years.

Reply:it just straigten them. most people i know had yellow teeth afterwards but it was their own fault for not taking care of em
Reply:no. infact, they can do the opposite. if when you have your braces you don't take the time to clean very carefully under the wires, when you get your braces off you'll have yellow stains.
Reply:Yeah, if you're going to spend thousands of bucks, it'd suck if your teeth still looked like crap. I would guess a lot of braces wearers along with nice straight teeth, then can whiten their teeth very easily and probably do so. For that real nice smile.

Reply:These are people taking care of their teeth. Brushing after eating just about anything, flossing, mouth washing. If you're not keep your teeth up then everyone will know because they'll get to look awful yellow and crusty, which is never a good thing when you are paying over $4000.00 generally.
