A week having fixed orthodontic braces on upper teeth.?

I have had my braces on my upper teeth now for just over 7 days, and I am finding 2 things, firstly one tooth on bottom row is hitting the top but I imagine that is cause they have moved very slightly.

Secondly I find that I feel slight pain when using the top teeth for pulling when attempting to take a small bite, and I wondered if anyone else can remember if they experienced similar symptoms.

A week having fixed orthodontic braces on upper teeth.?
I had braces for about 5 years I only got them off about 2 years ago and I still occasionally have to wear a retainer on my top teeth. And yeah they were pretty sensitive for the first few weeks and sometimes eating was sore. I also used to notice that different teeth hit off other teeth when I'd close my mouth because now that they'd moved a little. You get used to it after a while and you'll see your teeth looking more even within the next few weeks or months.

And yeah it was all worth it now. People tell me I have fabulous teeth and when I look in the mirror I can admire them :)
Reply:All normal.

The top teeth will settle down soon.

Even now, I don't wear my retainer every night, but when I do my teeth hurt and they rest in different places on my bottom teeth than they normally would. Every time you go to get them tightened, they will move and hurt.

The pain is worth a beautiful smile though

Reply:My daughter was on pain killers for about 3 weeks after her braces were fitted. You have to remember that the point of braces is to move your teeth, so they will be a bit painful.

It should settle down and when you get your brace tightened, it will only be a few hours of discomfort each time.
Reply:its very normal. it happens to me for the first few weeks too. your teeth are shifting.

once ur teeth stops shifting and settle down, u will be able to use ur upper teeth to bite a per normal again!

ur orthodontist will see to it the next appointment and correct it.

one kind reminder, do floss ur teeth daily and keep ur teeth clean. this helps to prevent decay teeth and shift ur teeth faster.

:)
Reply:The pain is normal.

As far as the tooth movement, you will likely begin to see a change after about 3-4 weeks. The changes are very small, however, so it may be difficult to notice (it's like watching the grass grow). When the wires are put into the braces, the forces deflect the teeth slightly. As the body begins to take away and add bone around the roots, the teeth will start to move. That whole process normally takes about 3-4 weeks.
